Woodcock heading to Highlanders

ALL BLACKS and Blues prop Tony Woodcock will play for the Highlanders next season.

The 31-year-old has decided to leave the Auckland-based franchise, much to the disappointment of new coach Sir John Kirwan. He cited wanting a new challenge as his reason for doing so.

It is not known where this leaves incumbent Highlanders loosehead and skipper Jamie Mackintosh, but Woodcock’s departure leaves the Blues short in the No 1 jersey.

The 88-test veteran has played 113 Super Rugby matches for the Blues since 2002.
