SPRINGBOKS WING Bjorn Basson will miss his side’s first two Rugby Championship games after suffering a torn intestine in the Bulls’ Super Rugby playoff loss to the Crusaders last the weekend.
Basson left the field during the game and later underwent surgery at Christchurch Hospital.
He will remain in hospital for at least five days and is expected to be sidelined for six weeks.
His injury means he will miss the Springboks’ opening two games of the Rugby Championship against Argentina.
Basson is joint leading tryscorer in Super Rugby alongside Hurricanes fullback Andre Taylor with 10 five-pointers.
