Gear staying put

Gear staying put

HOSEA GEAR has decided to thumb his nose at a lucrative contract in Japan to continue chasing his All Blacks dream.

The 28-year-old confirmed today that he said no to joining Toshiba and is staying in New Zealand.

Gear missed out on initial selection in the All Blacks’ 35-man wider training squad, but looks set to earn a recall following an injury to Cory Jane.

He has played eight tests for New Zealand since his debut against Australia in Hong Kong in 2008.
