Smylie gone for season

Smylie gone for season

HURRICANES HALFBACK Chris Smylie will miss the entire Super Rugby season with a shoulder injury.

He was crocked during the side’s pre-season game against the Chiefs two weeks ago.

Wider training group member Frae Wilson has joined the main squad.

Smylie’s absence means Chris Eaton is now the most experienced halfback in the Wellington-based side’s ranks. TJ Perenara, the 'Canes' other No 9, made his Super Rugby debut against the Stormers last weekend.

There was more positive news about young prop Reg Goodes, who injured his shoulder in the same game against the Chiefs.

He will undergo a six-week rehabilitation programme and should be back in the selection mix by mid-April if his recovery goes well.

The Hurricanes play the Lions in Johannesburg this Saturday.
