WANGANUI WILL challenge Taranaki for the Ranfurly Shield in New Plymouth next year.

The match will be played at Yarrow Stadium on August 4, the Taranaki Rugby Union confirmed.

It is one of two pre-season Shield defences for the amber and blacks.

The ‘Naki announced last week it would also defend the Log o’ Wood against King Country in Inglewood on July 17.

There are plenty of mouth-watering clashes on offer this weekend.
