Lomu owed money

ALL BLACKS great Jonah Lomu is chasing close to $NZ 900,000 in backpay and damages from a French rugby club he played for.

Lomu turned out for Stade Phoceen when it was known as Marseille-Vitrolles in 2009 at the end of his career.

The club has since gone into administration.

Lomu's lawyer, Assia Bennezzar, says the 63-test veteran filed a complaint with the labour relations board regarding the $NZ 890,000 he is owed in October last year and it has gone before the board in Marseille overnight (NZT).

Lomu – who was diagnosed in 1995 with nephrotic syndrome, a rare kidney disease – last month revealed his donated kidney had failed and he needed a new one.
