PORT ELIZABETH is the new host of the South African Sevens.
The city saw off bids from the Leopards, Pumas, South Western Districts and Western Province unions to win the rights to host the tournament.
It takes over from George, where the event has been held for the past nine years.
“We measured them against four broad criteria – event hosting capacity, brand building potential for sevens and SARU, commercial promise and budgetary viability – and their attention to detail in answering each one was outstanding,” said South African Rugby Union chief executive Jurie Roux.
This weekend throws up another set of games which could go either way.
