CHIEFS CAPTAIN Mils Muliaina will be sidelined for the next month due to a back injury.
The All Blacks fullback took a hit from Melbourne Rebels flanker Jarrod Saffy in the opening moments of the Hamilton-based side’s 38-10 win on Saturday night.
He stayed on the field for another 20 minutes before being replaced after it appeared he was struggling.
An x-ray revealed a minor fracture on the side of his spine.
He is expected to be out of action for four weeks.
Muliaina will undergo another scan later today, but it is believed no surgery will be required.
The Chiefs play the Hurricanes in Wellington this Saturday.
